I arrived at JoyExplo 98 in Little Rock, AR at about 1:00 or so with my friend. As soon as I got there I immediately went to find the guy I needed to talk to about me presenting the POG prayer chain letters to the girls. I found him, and he arranged it with the girls, that as soon as they got off the stage from performing, I would make my presentation. After the morning concert, I got all four of them together, and told them about the POG prayer chain, and how we send out prayer requests once a week and pray for them throughout the week. Then, I told them about all of us girls getting together and donating $100 to Mercy Ministries in their honor for Christmas. I then told them about the letters, and gave them to the girls. They thanked the prayer chain for all the prayers. Heather said, "There isn't anything more we could do for them, then pray." They all talked about how much they appreciated it, and they all hugged me about twenty times. Heather looked like she was about to cry. Then, I got my picture made with them.
Then, I told them about my mom being in the hospital and asked them to pray for her. I told them that she was really sick and needed lots of prayers. Shelley asked me her name, and I told her it was Sheila. They all agreed to pray for her, and then I had to go.
I left and walked outside and found my POG chat buddy Tim New. He was sitting in the floor sorting out pictures for the girls. We talked and he was extremely nice. Then, I left to go eat lunch, and when I got back, there was a huge line at the doors. I found Tim at the front, and he motioned for me to come up there, so I did. He had these electric candles to use during the song "Keep the Candle Burning", and he gave me one. Then, this girl in line behind us passed out. Someone finally came and carried her out. Then, the doors opened and I ran to the front row. I got one seat for me, and a seat for Tim right behind me. Then, I got to meet one of my other chat buddies named Shawna. She was really nice, and brought me one of Joyce's brownies. It was delicious. When POG came out, everyone went up to the stage including Tim and I, and it was great. Tim has a professional camera, and he actually let me take some pictures with it. Then, he took six rolls of film for me and just gave it to me. That was so sweet of him! Heather kept looking at Tim and I while she was singing. It was too cool!
After the concert ended, Tim and I went backstage. He was talking to Denise and giving her some pictures, so I went over and talked to Heather. I had told the girls previously that I was going to be talking to my mom at lunch and that I hoped she was okay. Well, she wasn't. I told Heather that she was gasping for air when I talked to her. I then I looked at Heather and told her that I was about to do something and that she couldn't say no. She said, "Oh, my gosh." I told her that it was nothing like that. Then, I took this ring off my finger that my mom had given me, and handed it to Heather. She kept saying that she couldn't take it, and that she felt bad about taking it. I told her, that she wasn't taking, but that I was giving it to her. I told her that I wanted that ring to be a reminder, that every time she looks at it, she will remember me, and pray for my mom. She said, "Well, let's pray now." So she put her arm around me and hugged me, and prayed for my mom and I. It was so touching! We were both about crying. She prayed for about 15 minutes. Then she looked me straight in the eyes and said, "One day I am going to give this ring back to you when your mother is healed." Then, she gave me a great big hug. I told her that I was just going to tell my mom I lost it. Heather said, "Please do me a big favor and don't tell your mom you lost it because that isn't the truth." I agreed to that, and then I left.
On my way out, Terry was standing their talking to a bunch of girls, and I just yelled out, "See you later, Terry." She said bye. I also met Cliff, POG road manager, and told him that Bunny, Bethany, and Joyce said hey.
I called my mom later, and told her about Heather, and me giving my ring to her. Much to my surprise, she started crying. She said that she couldn't believe that I was thinking about her at a time like that when I was so happy. It really blessed her. I was glad!
That is my story of the two concerts at JoyExplo 98 on Dec. 29th. I hope this story blesses you as you see how God blesses others.
Love ya, Shana Voyles
