Hey everyone! Bethany again!
I thought I'd do a review of the Point of Grace concert I was just at October 3rd, since it's the NEW tour-STEADY ON, yay! :-) I'm sure you're all dying to know what it's like so here goes. *grin* (WARNING: This is really long! Sorry y'all. I tried to keep it shorter, but it's a PoG concert! So much to tell.) :-)
A whole crowd of us went-we took up almost an entire row! It was me, Joyce, Jenny, Kim, Tim, my sister and three friends. We were in fourth row center; great seats! We were waiting for the concert to start, and PoG's new band walked out on the stage! Kim and Jenny and I were yelling "Go Dana!" he-he They started playing "Jesus Is," and out walked PoG! Everyone went crazy, yelling and clapping! I said to Kim (actually YELLED) "Hey! They all got their hair cut except for Shelley!" Terry's is back really short like on the LLOM album, Heather's is just below her shoulders, and Denise's is the same style, but shorter. They all looked really cute.
After the next song, Gather at the River, Shelley intro'd all the girls like she always does, but first thanked the audience for coming out "on what seems to be a religious holiday here in Nebraska." The Husker-OSU college football game. :-) Shelley would periodically get score updates of the game and announce them to us. She walked up to Denise while Denise was talking later, grabbed the microphone, and announced the score. Denise gave her this cute look and said, "Wait your turn, to talk Shelley." :-) While Shelley introduced the girls, they brought out Cole and Spence! Actually, Spence crawled on stage to his mommy. They are so precious! :-)
I don't really remember the order of the songs, but I know they sang all of them from Steady On except Rain Down on Me, Amazing, The Wonder of It All (aww…I love that song!) and When the Wind Blows. They sang Any Road, Any Cost, Circle of Friends, Keep the Candle Burning, Sing a Song, Jesus Will Still Be There, This Day, I'll Be Believing, and the choruses of You Are the Answer, The Great Divide, and Dying to Reach You.
The part of the concert that I was curious to see was whether or not they would still do their "Noah" routine. They did something new, and it is HILARIOUS! :-) They took popular songs from past and present musical eras and changed them to fit the theme of women in the Bible, since "girl power" is such a catch-phrase lately.
First was Eve and they sang Aretha Franklin's song "Freedom/Think" They had black feather boas, and Shelley, who sang lead, had a red boa. Then came Lot's wife, and they sang the Chordettes' "Mr. Sandman." It was really cute, they had on letter sweaters (like in Happy Days!) and when they stood together they read across: P O G S :-)
Next was Pharaoh's daughter, and they all wore beaded Egyptian headresses and sang "Walk Like an Egyptian." It was SO funny…I think this was my personal favorite! They'd strike poses during little musical interlude parts, and Terry looked like she was about to topple over, with one leg up in the air! He-he
Then Denise was talking about how girls have an obsession with haircuts. She said, "My husband never understands it. I don't even understand it sometimes, but, we do." She said Delilah must have been the same way. They sang "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun." Terry had on this big poofy 80's style wig and sang the solos. Denise blew bubbles at the audience, Shelley had a big lollipop, and Heather had a powder puff that she kept putting all over Shelley's face! *L*
Last came my other favorite part of the act. Dana (their guitarist) was talking about how "Jesus Christ can spice up your life" and I go "Ohhhhhh my gosh! They aren't going to!" and then Dana introduced, "Not the Spice Girls, but our very own-NICE GIRLS!" They came bouncing out dressed up like the SG (only MUCH more modestly). It was HILARIOUS! Denise was Posh; she had on black furs and gloves and stuff, Heather was Sporty, she had on a red and black Adidas-type jacket and red platform tennis shoes. Shelley was Baby, she had on a blonde pigtailed wig with a pacifier around her neck, and Terry was Scary with a wig, sunglasses, and a leopard-print jacket. It was so funny. They sang "Positivity" with changed words ("Jesus Christ-hold tight!", etc.) Heather kept doing these kicks in the air. It was one of the funniest things I have seen in a long time.
When they started singing KTCB, Tim passed little candle flashlights to all 9 of us in our row, and we all stood up and were waving them back and forth. Everyone else stood up after we did, too. It was so cool.
Somewhere in there (sorry this is so out of order!!) Watermark sang 4 songs. They are REALLY good. I bought their cd and cannot stop listening to it. :-) Also, Nancy Alkorn and a girl from Mercy Ministries spoke.
We left before the encore (Circle of Friends) so we could get a good spot in the autograph line. We waited about 15-20 minutes, then Point of Grace walked down the hallway on their way to the signing table. My sis was like "HI HEATHER!" and she waved. I was joking around, saying "Go Denise! Yeah!" but I didn't mean for her to hear me! Oops, b/c she did. ;-) Oh well. She gave me a little smile (they were kind of being hurried through).
We waited about 10 more minutes before we got to the table. Heather was first and I'm like, "Bunny and I gave you those doggie baskets in Sioux Falls!" and they were all ike, "Oh yeah!" and I said, "Speaking of which…" and pulled out these little doggie "suckers" that I'd given them before, but this time I had them for all the Points' dogs! :-) Shelley said, "Oh Snickers LOVED these last time!! Were you in chat when I said that?" and I'm like "Yep!" and Denise said, "Awww Hoops'll love this!" and Heather said, "You're so cute." I pulled out the picture I took of Shelley with the bone in her mouth for her and Heather to sign. Shelley said, "Oh I have this picture at home!" and I was like, "Yeah! Bunny gave it to you." Heather said, "Ohh we just saw Bunny last night!" Then I gave Terry this drawing that my sister who is six drew of PoG. Shelley said, "Awww we love those pictures." Terry and Denise were looking at it and Terry pointed at this long line by her foot and said, "What's that thing coming out of my foot there?" and Denise said, "I think it's a microphone cord, Terry." And Terry was like, "Oh. Silly me! Well, tell your sister thank you." Denise saw the picture of Shelley and the bone as I picked it up and said, "Awww Shelley even looks like Snickers!" He-he.
Then the pushy security guys were telling me to move on to the lobby so I left. I really wanted a picture with Denise, but I was scared of the security guys! :-) Joyce made me go ask Denise, though. She was like "She's going to say yes! The security guys won't care if she says yes." So I finally did, and she was like, "Sure sweetie!" and posed with me.
Then I had to leave because my ride was anxious to go, didn't get to stick around til everyone left like I usually do. Oh well! :-) It was a blast, and I hope I get to see another concert soon. If there is a PoG concert near you soon, I encourage you to go! It is definitely worth it for the fun, music, and fellowship.

I really wanted a picture with Denise...
